BlackBerry, CompTIA Join Forces To Offer Cybersecurity Training In Malaysia

BlackBerry Limited (BB) and CompTIA, an IT certification and training organisation, recently announced their new collaboration to introduce the innovative BlackBerry Cybersecurity Curriculum.

This partnership, revealed at the newly established Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (CCoE) in Cyberjaya, Kuala Lumpur, marks a significant step towards enhancing cybersecurity education. Scheduled to commence in May, CompTIA courses will play a pivotal role in expanding the curriculum’s scope and reach.

Under this collaboration, CompTIA will offer its cybersecurity training and certifications to students at the CCoE. The instructor-led courses by CompTIA are set to begin in May and will encompass their renowned A+, Network+, and Security+ certifications.

Furthermore, additional training programs and certifications will be introduced in the upcoming months, equipping individuals with the essential skills to pursue rewarding careers in the tech industry.

This partnership serves to expand the newly introduced BlackBerry Cybersecurity Curriculum, providing a diverse range of globally recognised course offerings and certifications aimed at nurturing a skilled cybersecurity workforce and ecosystem in Malaysia and the surrounding region.

The latest development with CompTIA follows recent educational partnerships forged with SANS Institute and Rogers Cybersecure Catalyst at Toronto Metropolitan University. These collaborations have facilitated the offering of full scholarships to three female cyber candidates for the CLIC (Certifications for Leadership in Cybersecurity) training program by SANS, further advancing diversity and opportunities for female cyber leaders in Malaysia. The selected candidates are slated to commence the course on May 9, contributing to the ongoing efforts to bolster cyber resilience.

BlackBerry, Senior Vice President of Corporate Development, Strategy, and Business Development, John Dimitropoulos, said, “BlackBerry’s new partnership with CompTIA demonstrates our unwavering commitment to assisting Malaysia in building cybersecurity capacity and strengthening digital defenses with trained cyber professionals.

Following the recent establishment of the Cybersecurity Center of Excellence in Malaysia and the introduction of our BlackBerry Cybersecurity Curriculum, we remain dedicated to innovation, collaboration, and fostering diversity in the cybersecurity ecosystem. We are thrilled to offer complimentary courses until the end of May to support the nation’s endeavors in enhancing cyber-resilience.”
