Monorail services along Jalan Sultan Ismail, disrupted since yesterday due to the fallen tree incident, resumed operations at 5pm on Wednesday May 8), Rapid Rail announced.
The service was temporarily suspended following an incident where a tree, brought down by heavy rain and strong winds, fell onto the track and vehicles near Bukit Nanas Monorail Station.
Rapid Rail, in an official statement, confirmed that the clearing and repair work, conducted in coordination with local authorities, was completed early this morning at 5:55am.
“Operations and structural engineers have carried out a comprehensive and detailed inspection according to set safety standards to ensure the track structure is stable and safe for service,” the statement read.
Alternative services discontinued
With the full resumption of the monorail line, the alternative train services and shuttle buses provided during the disruption have been discontinued.
The train frequency has returned to normal, running every seven minutes during peak hours and every ten minutes during off-peak times.
“Rapid Rail would like to express our deepest gratitude to all parties involved in restoring the monorail service to normal,” it said.
On Tuesday, the fallen tree near Concorde Hotel, along Jalan Sultan Ismail led to the temporary closure of four stations for clean-up and repair works. The other affected stations included Raja Chulan, Bukit Bintang, and Imbi stations.
The incident, which occurred at 2.19pm tragically resulted in the death of a man and caused injuries to two others, after the tree crushed 17 vehicles and part of the monorail track.
