FBM KLCI Ends Easier On Thursday, Maintains Above 1600 Key Level

The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) finished marginally lower today (May 9) but remained above the psychological 1,600 level, amid mixed cues from the regional market’s performance.

At 5pm, the FBM KLCI fell 0.22 per cent or 3.53 points to 1,601.22 compared to Wednesday’s (May 8) close of 1,604.75.

The barometer index, which opened 1.46 points better at 1,606.21, moved to a low of 1,599.29 before the lunch break, after hitting a high of 1,607.38 during the morning session.

The overall market performance was strong, with 601 stock counters rising, 458 stocks falling, 532 stocks were unchanged, 737 stocks untraded, and 12 stocks suspended.

The total trading volume for the day was 4.648 billion shares, with a total trading value of RM3.135 billion.
