AirAsia Supports Subsidised Domestic Flights For Malaysia’s IPTA Students

AirAsia reaffirms its commitment to the FLYsiswa initiative, a program designed to provide subsidies for domestic flight tickets to public university students in Malaysia.

This dedication follows the recent reinstatement of the initiative by the Ministry of Transport Malaysia, demonstrating AirAsia’s ongoing efforts to facilitate affordable air travel for students.

The FLYsiswa initiative is open to all students pursuing tertiary education at public universities in Malaysia, including polytechnics, community colleges under the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), matriculation colleges, and Institutes of Teacher Education Malaysia under the Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE). Eligible students are entitled to receive a RM300 voucher, with the option for those who do not meet the criteria to appeal to the MOHE or MOE through their respective institutions.

With AirAsia expanding its routes this year, including the introduction of flights between Penang and Kuching, as well as Penang and Kota Kinabalu in March, students now have access to a total of 47 routes within the airline’s extensive domestic network. These routes bridge Peninsula Malaysia and East Malaysia, offering increased connectivity for students traveling between regions and within East Malaysia itself.

The application process for the FLYsiswa initiative through AirAsia is streamlined and user-friendly, requiring only a few simple steps. Students can initiate the process by clicking the ‘Redeem Now’ button on the AirAsia website at airasia.com/aa/flysiswa. During redemption, students need only enter the voucher number on the payment page to avail themselves of the subsidy.

AirAsia, Group Chief Commercial Officer, Paul Carroll said the airline’s satisfaction in continuing to support the government’s FLYsiswa initiative. Carroll highlighted that in 2023, over 90% of the 24,730 students who claimed the voucher with AirAsia chose to fly with the airline.
