Merdeka 118 To Get EV Bikes As Part Of Sustainable Concept

Blueshark, a pioneering subsidiary of Sharkgulf Technologies Group, renowned for its cutting-edge smart electric scooters, has announced a strategic client-provider relationship with PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn. Berhad (PNBMV). This collaboration marks a significant milestone in sustainable urban mobility, as Blueshark commits to equipping five divisions of PNBMV’s mobile patrol units stationed at the iconic Merdeka 118 tower in Kuala Lumpur, the world’s second tallest building.

In a recent ceremony held at the Merdeka 118 tower, Blueshark officially handed over 14 units of its flagship R1 smart electric scooters to PNBMV, initiating a three-year lease agreement. This collaboration underscores Blueshark’s dedication to providing innovative mobility solutions tailored to meet the evolving needs of urban environments.

The deployment of Blueshark R1 smart electric scooters within Merdeka 118 tower’s operational framework ensures essential personnel, including those from the Car Park, Common Facilities, Base Facilities, Merdeka Utilities, and Polis Bantuan (Auxiliary Police), have access to sustainable transportation options.

Blueshark Ecosystem Sdn Bhd, Group CEO (ASEAN), Jeff Chong expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, saying, “We are thrilled to be partnering with PNBMV to provide our Blueshark R1 smart electric scooters to their various teams in such a landmark location. PNBMV and Blueshark both share values in sustainability and environmental responsibility.”

He emphasised the role of Blueshark’s e-mobility ecosystem in enabling PNBMV to reduce its carbon footprint and advance its ESG goals.

PNBMV, Chief Executive Officer, Tengku Datuk Ab. Aziz Tengku Mahmud, highlighted the significance of integrating Blueshark e-bikes into their operations, emphasising their alignment with PNBMV’s goal of climate neutrality. He noted the benefits of Blueshark’s Vehicle & Backend Telematics in providing valuable data for PNBMV’s carbon reporting and enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of their teams’ duties.

Blueshark’s R1 smart electric scooters are well-suited for fleet operations, urban commuting, and patrol, featuring rechargeable batteries and access to Malaysia’s first battery swap infrastructure. The Internet of Vehicles (IoV) connectivity enables real-time monitoring and tracking of vehicles, providing fleet customers with essential data for performance evaluation and battery management.

“With an estimated 90 percent lower annual CO2e output over conventional 150cc engines, we are confident that our Blueshark R1 will be a valuable asset to PNBMV and an effective solution for emission-free mobility,” said Jeff. He emphasised Blueshark’s commitment to providing top-quality products and services to partners, aiming to help PNBMV achieve its ESG mandate of reducing emissions.
