Selangor International Halal Convention (Selhac) is set to debut at this year’s Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS), marking its integration into the larger business platform to be held in October.
The convention, now in its third edition, aims to bolster halal certification for SMEs, optimize supply chain logistics, and introduce halal digital innovations.
State executive councillor Ng Sze Han highlighted these initiatives during the official launch of the 8th SIBS at the Sheraton Hotel, emphasizing Selhac’s alignment with the 10th Selangor International Expo (Food and Beverage) — SIE (F&B).
Ng expressed optimism about the expanded reach of Selhac within SIBS, stating, “We expect to achieve over 60 per cent successful market penetration from the 150 companies that are expected to participate in the convention’s business matching sessions.”
Selhac 2024 will feature a comprehensive lineup, including exhibitions from over 80 industry players across sectors such as logistics, digital innovation, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, health, cosmetics, personal care, tourism, and hospitality.
The event will also host conferences, seminars, forums, and business matching sessions aimed at fostering strategic partnerships and enhancing the global footprint of the halal industry.
For the first time, SIBS will span two distinct periods this year, with July hosting the 8th Selangor Asean Business Conference (SABC) and the 4th Selangor Investment and Industrial Park Expo (SPARK), and October focusing on the 10th SIE (F&B), the 4th Selangor Life Sciences Convention (SLC), and the 9th Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention (SDEC).
Ng affirmed the summit’s regional importance, stressing, “When you invest in Selangor, you invest in Asean. This is how we can create a bigger impact because investors are not only looking at the 6.5 or 7 million people in Selangor, but the larger 600 million population in Southeast Asia.”
The event, scheduled to take place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), anticipates participation from stakeholders across Malaysia and Southeast Asia, positioning Selangor as a gateway to the ASEAN market.
Invest Selangor aims to facilitate transactions worth RM7 billion and expects over 60,000 visitors from 80 countries to attend SIBS 2024, underscoring its role in driving economic growth and regional collaboration.
