Malaysia has been elected to the Board of Governors of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) subsidiary organs for the term 2025 to 2028. This announcement was made by the Foreign Ministry in its latest post on X.
The election, held during the 46th Session of the Islamic Commission for Economic, Cultural and Social Affairs, took place at the OIC headquarters in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on July 29.
Malaysia will serve on the Board of Governors for both the Islamic University of Technology (IUT) and the Islamic Centre for Development of Trade (ICDT). The Higher Education Ministry will represent Malaysia on the IUT Board of Governors, while the Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry (MITI) will represent the country on the ICDT Board of Governors.
The Foreign Ministry expressed Malaysia’s eagerness to enhance collaboration with OIC-member states, particularly in the areas of education and trade.
The IUT, located in Bangladesh, was established in 1981 to contribute to the development of human resources in OIC-member states, focusing on engineering, technology, and technical education. The ICDT, founded in Casablanca in 1984, aims to promote trade and investments among OIC countries.
Malaysia looks forward to leveraging these positions to strengthen ties and foster growth within the OIC community.
