The Bali International Airshow 2024, scheduled from 18 to 21 September at Ngurah Rai International Airport, will be Indonesia’s grand return to the international airshow scene after a 30-year hiatus. This pivotal event underscores the nation’s growing prominence in the global aerospace and defence sectors, supported by major international players such as Airbus, Boeing, Bell Helicopters, and many others.
The airshow will feature a range of aircraft displays, from commercial to military, including the F-35A Lightning II and the Airbus A400M. These highlights reflect strong international backing, with significant contributions from countries like Australia, the USA, and Germany. Among the expected attendees are top defence officials and industry leaders from over 20 countries, showcasing Indonesia’s strategic ambition to be a key player in the Asia-Pacific region.
Pertamina, Indonesia’s leading energy firm, is the title sponsor of the event and will emphasise its commitment to sustainable aviation through the promotion of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Pertamina’s Vice President Director, Mr. Wiko Migantoro, stressed that SAF is crucial for advancing environmentally friendly aviation practices.
The airshow is supported by the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime and Investment Affairs, the Ministry of Transportation, and the Indonesian Air Force. It aims to boost Indonesia’s position as a regional hub for aerospace innovation and defence technology. The event will attract nearly 100 companies and 100 hosted delegations, with key conferences held on 17 September to address sustainable aviation and aerospace technology in humanitarian efforts.
Two major forums will precede the airshow: the Asia Pacific Air Transport Forum, focusing on SAF and airspace integration, and the Bali Regional Air and Space Power Forum, addressing aerospace technology’s role in disaster response. These discussions will support Indonesia’s commitment to achieving Net Zero Aviation by 2050 and strengthen its air defence industry.
In a push for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives, the airshow will feature partnerships with organisations such as Yayasan Care Peduli and the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change. These collaborations will address environmental and social issues in Nusa Tenggara Timur and explore sustainable aviation fuel advancements.
The event will also include thrilling flying displays by the Jupiter Aerobatic Team (JAT), performing daily throughout the airshow week. Trade visitors can pre-register online until 17 September, with tickets priced at USD 40 for a single day and USD 100 for a three-day pass. Public admission will be available on 21 September, with tickets priced at Rp165.000 and round-trip shuttle bus tickets at Rp111.000. A “Buy 5, Get 1 Free” offer is available for public day tickets.
Expanding across 78,000 square metres, including a 70,000-square-metre static display area and an 8,000-square-metre exhibition hall, the airshow is expected to draw 6,000 trade visitors and feature 100 companies and 100 delegations from 35 countries. The Bali International Airshow 2024 aims to elevate Indonesia’s aerospace sector on the global stage, reinforcing its position as a leading force in Southeast Asia and beyond.
