How To Leverage On Malaysia In Going Global

Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, highlighted Malaysia’s robust investment ecosystem, which domestic and foreign investors can tap into to achieve their commercial goals.

During the 17th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention (WCEC) held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), he emphasised the country’s strong economic performance, noting a growth rate of 5.1% in the first half of 2024, driven by domestic demand, investment, and exports.

Additionally, Tengku Zafrul noted that Malaysia’s trade surplus reached RM72.5 billion in the same period, with exports rebounding by 5.1%.

Tengku Zafrul outlined Malaysia’s strategic advantages as an investment destination, including its location in Southeast Asia, ratified free trade agreements, and strong political stability.

He pointed to significant initiatives like the New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030 and the National Semiconductor Strategy (NSS) as vital frameworks for attracting investments and fostering growth.

Tengku Zafrul also stressed the importance of efficient investment implementation, revealing that over 80% of approved manufacturing projects had been executed between 2021 and June 2024.

He affirmed the government’s commitment to nurturing talent, facilitating expatriate visa processing, and allocating funds for skills training in key sectors.

As Malaysia prepares to chair ASEAN in 2025, Tengku Zafrul expressed the nation’s intention to strengthen regional centrality and neutrality, positioning Malaysia as a key player in global trade.
