Leading fertility care specialist, Alpha IVF Group Berhad, has announced the opening of its new sales representative office in Shanghai’s Huangpu District, marking a significant step in its regional expansion strategy.
The new office, operational since September 4, 2024, is located near the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital of Fudan University. It will serve as a key gateway for Chinese patients to access Alpha IVF Group’s advanced fertility services, including Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidies (PGTA), a screening technique for chromosomal abnormalities that is not yet available in China.
Through its subsidiary, Alpha International (Shanghai) Medical Consulting Limited, the office will also streamline the process for Chinese patients seeking treatment in Malaysia and promote the Group’s high IVF success rates.
Dato’ Dr. Colin Lee Soon Soo, Group Managing Director of Alpha IVF Group, highlighted the significance of this expansion: “China presents a tremendous growth opportunity for Alpha IVF Group, driven by the growing demand for reproductive treatment services. Our Shanghai office aims to enhance patient experience, reduce logistical challenges, and make advanced fertility treatment more accessible.”
The opening of the Shanghai office follows Alpha IVF Group’s recent international expansion into the Philippines and is part of the Group’s long-term growth strategy. The office is expected to recruit over 150 egg retrieval procedures annually, significantly increasing the number of Chinese patients seeking treatment in Malaysia.
Before the pandemic, Chinese patients contributed 21.0%, or RM12.8 million, of the Group’s Malaysia revenue in FY2020. Although this declined during the pandemic, contributions from Chinese patients recovered to RM12.6 million, or 9.3%, in FY2024.
Dr. Colin expressed optimism about the Group’s growth prospects in China, stating, “We are confident that contributions from Chinese patients will not only return to pre-pandemic levels but will surpass them.”
This expansion solidifies Alpha IVF Group’s presence in the region and strengthens its role in providing cutting-edge fertility care to patients in China.
