Ringgit Eases Against U.S. Dollar As Rate Cut Expectations Cool

The ringgit pulled back from its recent two-day rally, opening slightly lower against the US dollar today as expectations for aggressive rate cuts eased, according to an economist.

Despite this, the local currency strengthened against a basket of major currencies in morning trade.

At 8am, the ringgit dipped to 4.3285/4.3390 against the greenback, compared to yesterday’s close of 4.3270/4.3325.
