Starting 21 October and continuing until 30 November, public officials will have a 40-day window to select the Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA) as a replacement for the Malaysian Remuneration System (SSM), with the new system coming into effect on 1 December.
The Chief Director of Public Service (KPPA), Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz, confirmed that the introduction of the SSPA will not impact the pensions of permanent public officials. The new salary adjustments under the SSPA will apply solely to those who choose to opt into the system.
Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan explained that the implementation and specifics, including salary adjustments and service management under the SSPA, will be addressed through engagement sessions conducted by the Public Service Department (JPA) across all ministries and departments. These sessions are designed to provide human resource managers with the necessary information.
The government expects that the SSPA will further strengthen the aspirations for public service reform by instilling a sense of loyalty among public officials and enhancing their ability to deliver exceptional service, thereby contributing to the nation’s and the people’s overall well-being.
