JCorp Launches New Container Operations at Tanjung Langsat Port

Johor Corporation (JCorp), through its subsidiary JLand Group, has officially launched its container operations at Tanjung Langsat Port (TLP), a significant milestone that strengthens Malaysia’s position in the global oil and gas, and logistics industries.

The launch of the port, officiated by Transport Minister Anthony Loke, not only aligns with the Economic Transformation Programme goals, it also boosts the southern region’s growth and solidifies its position as a pivotal hub for regional trade and logistics.

The launch of TLP, which will be co-operated by TLP Terminal Sdn Bhd and Puncak Kosmo Sdn Bhd, is also in line with Johor’s strategic vision in which the port will be developed into a highly competitive and efficient gateway, driving future growth.

“TLP’s expertise in handling bulk, breakbulk and liquid cargo, especially in the petroleum and edible oil sectors, has made it a cornerstone of Johor’s logistics and supply chain network.

“The Tanjung Langsat Industrial Complex (TLIC) has attracted RM34 billion in investments and created over 15,500 jobs. In 2023, Johor secured RM43.1 billion in investments, generating more than 19,000 jobs, underscoring the state’s strategic advantages and industrial strength,” Loke said.

Loke also commended JCorp for its plans to further expand TLIC and develop a new industrial estate on the eastern side of Johor, emphasising that this expansion will significantly increase container volumes and position TLP as the main gateway for industries within TLIC and the surrounding.

“Looking ahead, Tanjung Langsat is poised to meet rising demand from multinational companies. With its container facilities, TLP will play a crucial role in the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), contributing to regional economic upscale,” he said.

TLP is now embarking on the development of a third container port in Johor to meet the rising demand from multinational companies. This initiative will complement the existing ports, contributing to Johor’s economic blueprint to attract and facilitate investments, and creating additional business opportunities and jobs for the local community.

Additionally, Tanjung Langsat’s strategic location has attracted new investments in the renewable energy sector where EcoCeres Renewable Fuels Sdn Bhd, a Hong Kong-based company has committed RM1 billion to developing facilities for producing Sustainable Aviation Fuel.

Construction is underway, with operations expected to begin next year, further boosting job creation and local businesses further development.

In recognition of Tanjung Langsat’s potential, the Johor state government has included the area in the JS-SEZ as it believes this initiative will attract more investors and reinforce TLP’s position as a hub for handling liquid, breakbulk and container cargo, meeting the demands of existing and future clients.
