2024 YEF Calls On Youths To Participate In Nation-Building

The 2024 Youth Economic Forum (YEF) has called on young professionals and tertiary students to engage in discussion about their role in the process of nation-building in several key areas tabled at the forum held in Kuala Lumpur, reported Bernama.

The forum on Saturday was organised by the Perdana Fellows Alumni Association (PFAA) and sponsored by YTL Power International Bhd.

PFAA is a fellowship group established by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in 2013 to provide young Malaysians with practical experience in national governance.

Some 1,200 delegates attended the youth forum that shed light on several heavy-weight issues that included the transitioning towards green economy, formalising the “informal” (economic and employment) path, harnessing data as a catalyst for the digital economy, assessing data as the new oil and artificial intelligence (AI) as the new electricity, deciphering Europe’s AI landscape, and lastly, creating a sustainable talent ecosystem within Malaysia.

In his closing address, the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, said today’s youths will be shaping the nation’s future.

He emphasised that Malaysian youths need to step up and take ownership of Malaysia’s future while the government implements policies such as the New National Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030) and the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR).

“I want to remind you that the new economy we are building is not just for you, it is with you,” he said, adding that, “We are laying the foundation for an economy that is resilient, competitive and inclusive, driven by technology, sustainability and innovation.”
