Theta Edge Bhd has appointed veteran chartered accountant and corporate adviser Norsyahrin Hamidon as its new non-independent non-executive chairman, effective July 15, 2026.
The technology solutions provider said the 51-year-old accountant brings more than 25 years of experience spanning accounting, taxation, corporate governance, fund management, corporate restructuring and management advisory.
Norsyahrin holds a Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours) degree from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and is a chartered accountant. He is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), the Malaysian Association of Tax Accountants, the Association of Malay Chartered Accountant Firms and the ASEAN Chartered Professional Accountants.
He founded accounting firm Syahrin & Co. (Chartered Accountants) in 2003, where he has built a client base ranging from small and medium-sized enterprises to large corporations across various industries.
Beyond public practice, Norsyahrin has held several key positions in Malaysia’s investment and public sectors. He previously served as Chairman of Investment at Kumpulan Modal Perdana, a venture capital company wholly owned by the Minister of Finance (Incorporated), and was also Chairman of the Investment Committee and a board member of Pelaburan MARA Bhd.
In 2022, he was appointed as a member of the Royal Commission of Inquiry investigating Lembaga Tabung Haji.
Norsyahrin currently serves as President of the Malay Chamber of Commerce Malaysia (DPMM) and holds advisory and committee appointments with several government-linked organisations, including PERKESO, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), HRD Corp, JAKIM and the Government-Industry TVET Coordination Body.
He is also an Adjunct Professor at Universiti Poly-Tech MARA and chairs the Technical Working Group on Business Insolvency under the PEMUDAH initiative.
