Decade Old Abandoned Project Revival

168 Park Selayang has become the latest abandoned project to be revived, setting a new standard for housing projects. 168 Park Selayang Sdn Bhd was established by the founders of Infra Segi Sdn Bhd in 2021, after the latter appointed the white knight by the High Court to revive the Selayang Star City project which had been abandoned in 2016, and now renamed 168 Park Selayang.

Going beyond the requirements of the original Sale and Purchase Agreement (S&P), the developer has implemented significant enhancements to both individual units and the overall project, transforming it into a development of outstanding quality and exceeding expectations at every level. These unit owners were not required to top up payments.

Nga Kor Ming, Minister of Housing and Local Government, during his recent visit to the revitalised development, who stated that this is a significant achievement, as the project has been completed with excellent quality without adding financial pressure or burden to the buyers.

“In 2022, we were grateful that the High Court appointed the parent company of 168 Park Selayang, Infra Segi, as the rescue contractor and project manager to revive this development. The High Court’s decision successfully saved a project comprising 2,093 units with a gross development value of RM1.12 billion,” he said.

“Every unit that was previously abandoned has now been completed under Block C, which has been fully handed over, with the CCC already issued. Earlier, I visited the site, and to those who purchased units, congratulations—Alhamdulillah—you can now rejoice. The units were sold at an affordable price of RM290,000, making it achievable for many. I have visited your beautiful swimming pool, international class gymnasium, and full condo facilities. All at an absolutely affordable price.”

“From 2022 to 31 October this year, KPKT’s special task force – the Task Force on Sick and Abandoned Private Housing Projects (TSFT) – has successfully rescued 862 sick projects, enabling 102,808 buyers to finally receive their keys and move into homes they can call their own. These saved projects represent a GDV of RM85.82 billion. With developers like 168 Park Selayang, the government’s goal of achieving zero abandoned housing projects by 2030 is well within reach. Their dedication to delivering quality developments on time has set a benchmark for the industry, supporting the nation’s mission to build trust and sustainability in the property sector.”

The entire development consists of three residential blocks–Spring Residence (Block C) being the first to deliver vacant possession–and a four-storey mall. Blocks A and B have also received interest. Block A–known as Lush Residence–offers units ranging from 560 to 950 square feet and a starting price of RM294,000. Block B–known as Bole Residence–offers unit sizes between 674 and 1,074 square feet and a starting price of RM397,000.
