Gentari & Mastercard Promote EV Mobility In APAC Through Efficient Digital Payment

Gentari Sdn Bhd, through its subsidiary Gentari Green Mobility Sdn Bhd, has collaborated with Mastercard towards promoting electric vehicle (EV) adoption across Asia Pacific (APAC) to cut carbon emission, according to a joint press release dated Dec 17.

The two companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly explore advertising, marketing and other promotion options, as well as opportunities to implement secured and enhanced digital payments solutions in the processes.

Gentari is accelerating the shift to sustainable transportation by activating a vast network of owned and networked EV charging stations. The company currently operates the largest licensed direct current (DC) charging network in Malaysia, with over 170 DC charging points (CP) out of close to 1,000 CPs across Malaysia, Thailand and India. Gentari also offers a network of over 3,800 EVs deployed through its Vehicle-as-a-Service (VaaS) offering across Malaysia, Indonesia and India.

Shah Yang Razalli, Deputy CEO of Gentari and CEO of Gentari Green Mobility commented, “Mastercard’s expertise in innovative digital payment solutions that drive sustainable and inclusive growth aligns with Gentari’s vision of leveraging technology to improve efficiency and customer experiences.”

Globally, Mastercard’s urban mobility solutions have enabled seamless and intuitive payment experiences for drivers in refueling, parking, toll payments and EV charging. In the EV space, Mastercard has also pioneered a universal payment-terminal solution that will establish new payment standards for EV charging in Europe and enhance the user payment experience at charging stations.

“Simplifying the charging and payment experience is a crucial step in encouraging consumer adoption and accelerating the transition to electric vehicles,” said Beena Pothen, Mastercard Country Manager, Malaysia and Brunei.

Mastercard has presence in 200+ countries and territories worldwide, facilitating a wide range of digital payment options.
