The Malaysia Digital Economy Corp (MDEC) has officially launched the IP360 Metaverse Platform, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at redefining how global audiences experience Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage and creative talents. In collaboration with Ammobox Studios Sdn Bhd, the platform offers a cutting-edge digital experience designed to showcase Malaysia’s leadership in digital innovation.
Currently in its Minimum Viable Product (MVP) stage, the platform allows users to engage with immersive 3D experiences accessible through any web browser, powered by Unreal Engine 5 and Pixel Streaming. The IP360 Metaverse features two main attractions:
- Virtual Theme Park: This interactive space features Malaysian intellectual properties like Ejen Ali and Didi and Friends. It includes games such as “Find the Spy” and skill-building activities at the “Training Centre.” Didi and Friends is expected to debut in Q1 2025.
- Digital Museum: A celebration of Malaysia’s cultural legacy, the museum allows users to interact with artifacts, participate in treasure hunts, take local language lessons, and watch holographic traditional dance performances.
The IP360 Metaverse Platform is the result of strategic partnerships with organisations like Tourism Malaysia, ASWARA, Istana Budaya, and prominent Malaysian IP brands, reflecting a shared vision to amplify the nation’s cultural assets globally.
MDEC’s CEO, Anuar Fariz Fadzil, commented, “The launch of the IP360 Metaverse Platform aligns with Malaysia’s national agenda to strengthen its creative digital industries. By 2030, Malaysia aims to be recognised as a hub for high-quality, innovative digital content production.”
This year, MDEC supported 38 companies and IP creators through its Metaverse Onboarding and Immersive IP Experiences Programme, offering up to RM200,000 per project to encourage the exploration of metaverse opportunities.
