The achievements of the Independent Police Conduct Commission (IPCC) and Malaysia’s strategic initiatives as ASEAN Chair are set to be key discussion points in today’s Dewan Rakyat sitting.
According to the Order Paper on Parliament’s website, MP Kota Melaka Khoo Poay Tiong has asked the Home Minister to present a detailed report on the IPCC’s accomplishments since its inception until the end of 2024. He also seeks clarification on the roles of the IPCC, Police, Friends, and Collaborators (IPFC) during the oral question-and-answer session.
Meanwhile, Kemaman MP Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar has requested the Foreign Minister to outline Malaysia’s strategic initiatives as ASEAN Chair in 2025. His query focuses on three core strategies: strengthening regional value chains, fortifying ASEAN member states’ foundations, and coordinating economic restructuring efforts.
Additionally, Rasah MP Cha Kee Chin has raised concerns about the Cooking Oil Price Stabilisation Scheme (eCOSS). He has asked the Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living to disclose the total subsidies allocated for the scheme in 2024 and whether the ministry is considering increasing the quota of 60,000 tonnes of subsidised cooking oil in the retail market, following frequent complaints of supply shortages.
The Dewan Rakyat sitting will continue with debates on the Motion of Thanks for the Royal Address. The current Parliament session is scheduled to run for 18 days until March 6.
