PETRONAS LNG Ltd has entered into a Master Sales and Purchase Agreement (MSPA) with the Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security (JOGMEC), strengthening the long-standing energy partnership between Malaysia and Japan.
PETRONAS said the agreement establishes a more flexible framework for future liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply arrangements, aimed at supporting Japan’s energy security while taking into account Malaysia’s domestic supply requirements.
The group said the MSPA reinforces its position as a reliable LNG supplier to Japan and reflects both parties’ commitment to maintaining resilient energy supplies amid a changing global energy landscape.
Japan has been a key LNG market for PETRONAS for more than four decades.
JOGMEC is a Japanese government agency under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and is responsible for implementing policies relating to energy and natural resources.
The agency works with industry partners to strengthen Japan’s energy security and ensure stable access to critical energy resources.
PETRONAS executive vice-president and chief executive officer of Gas & Maritime Business Datuk Adif Zulkifli said the agreement builds on the trust established between PETRONAS and JOGMEC over many years.
