EPF Bars 12,787 Directors From Overseas Travel Over Unpaid Contributions

The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has barred 12,787 company directors from leaving the country after failing to settle their employees’ contributions.

EPF said it involved 13,820 employers who failed to settle their employees’ contributions within six months from January to June last year, representing 2.02% of the 685,399 employers registered with EPF.

EPF also warned that it would take legal action against employers who fail to make the required payments.

“The failure of employers to make payments within the stipulated period is a serious offence.

“EPF would not hesitate to take legal action against non-compliant employers, including civil and criminal actions, to protect workers’ rights,” it said.
