Malaysia has deployed a fully equipped field hospital to Sagaing City, Myanmar, to provide urgent medical assistance in the wake of a devastating earthquake.
The mission, jointly led by the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, saw two Royal Malaysian Air Force A400M aircraft depart Subang Air Base at 4.30am on Friday, carrying the hospital and a 70-member medical team.
The field hospital includes emergency care units and surgical facilities, and will operate for 30 days in coordination with local authorities to deliver impartial and effective care, particularly for displaced and vulnerable communities.
“This initiative underscores Malaysia’s steadfast commitment to humanitarian values and the well-being of its neighbours in distress.”
As ASEAN Chair, Malaysia said it stands in solidarity with the people of Myanmar, adding that the deployment forms part of its broader humanitarian response and the regional bloc’s shared commitment to peace and stability.
