Malaysia Marine Faces Arbitration Claim Of RM53.7 Million

Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Holdings Berhad (MHB) announced that its subsidiary, Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Sdn Bhd (MMHE), received a Notice of Arbitration from Haumea Offshore Sdn Bhd (TFO), formerly known as Trans Fame Offshore Sdn Bhd.

The arbitration relates to a subcontract for hook-up and commissioning works and marine vessels for the Bokor Phase 3 Redevelopment Project (Package A).  TFO claims that disputes arose under the subcontract concerning its performance of the works.

In its Notice of Arbitration, TFO is claiming approximately RM57.3 million, which includes alleged losses, interest, costs, and other reliefs.

MHB stated that the financial impact of the arbitration depends on the outcome, with a potential loss of around RM57.3 million. However, the company does not expect any operational impact from the claim.

MMHE plans to defend against TFO’s claims and is considering pursuing a counterclaim. The company also reserves the right to take other legal actions under Malaysian laws.
