Talentbank, Malaysia’s leading authority on graduate employment, has unveiled its 2025 Employers’ Choice of University list at EQ Kuala Lumpur, recognising institutions that produce graduates highly sought after by top employers.
The launch event was attended by Datuk Mustapha Sakmud, Deputy Minister of Higher Education, who highlighted the government’s commitment to aligning higher education with industry needs.

Unlike traditional academic rankings, Talentbank’s list is based on real-world hiring data, sourced directly from leading employers across Malaysia. The rankings are derived from Talentbank’s National Graduate Employability Index (GE Index), which evaluates universities based on three key factors: employer recruitment activity, the number of graduates hired, and employers’ repeat hiring patterns.
Public universities such as Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) were recognised as top choices among employers.
Sunway University retained its position as Malaysia’s #1 institution for graduate employability for the fourth consecutive year. It was especially praised for its programmes in business, accounting, computer science, hospitality, culinary arts, communication, and psychology.
Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) also received strong commendation, particularly for its graduates in Engineering, Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, and Actuarial Science.
Other notable institutions include Heriot-Watt University Malaysia, Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation, IMU University, and Universiti Teknologi Petronas, all of which were recognised for consistently equipping graduates with industry-relevant skills.
As part of its 15th-anniversary celebrations, Talentbank also introduced the Career Playbook, a guide designed for Malaysian school leavers, university students, and young graduates. This resource will provide valuable insights on selecting the right universities and career paths, identifying high-growth industries, and developing employability skills.
Talentbank CEO Ben Ho emphasised the company’s ongoing commitment to enhancing graduate employability, stating, “Through initiatives like the Employers’ Choice of University List and the Career Playbook, we remain dedicated to guiding students towards informed educational and career decisions.”
