Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has assured that the government will accelerate the implementation of key MADANI Economic reforms to cushion the impact of retaliatory tariffs recently announced by the United States.
In a special briefing to the Dewan Rakyat on Monday, Anwar said the government’s focus will remain on fast-tracking initiatives under the New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP), the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), and the country’s digitalisation agenda.
“These efforts are crucial as a dual strategy — to stimulate short-term investment activity and to strengthen the country’s long-term competitiveness in navigating global economic uncertainties,” he said.
The Prime Minister also stressed that no core national policies, including Bumiputera rights, local vendor requirements, or protections for strategic sectors, will be compromised in any international negotiations.
He explained that ongoing reviews of non-tariff barriers (NTBs) will only involve outdated regulations, and any changes will be made through transparent and inclusive government processes.
