Marriott Hotels has officially expanded its footprint in Southern Thailand with the opening of the Khao Lak Marriott Beach Resort & Spa. Set along one of the region’s most unspoilt coastlines, the new beachfront property was unveiled with a vibrant celebration, introducing guests to a refined blend of Thai culture, contemporary design and signature hospitality.
The launch event took place in the Andaman Ballroom, which was elegantly transformed to reflect the charm and sophistication of Southern Thai aesthetics. Guests enjoyed a curated evening featuring a locally inspired menu complemented by international flavours and carefully selected beverages.
A highlight of the evening was the unveiling of Where Stillness Speaks, a striking photo exhibition by renowned Leica Thailand M Ambassador, Chut Janthachotibutr. On display until May 31, 2025, the exhibition captures the serene beauty and cultural richness of Khao Lak. Proceeds from artwork sales will support the local charity Baan Tarn Namjai, reinforcing the resort’s commitment to the surrounding community.
Designed by the acclaimed P49 Design studio, the resort seamlessly blends modern elegance with coastal Thai heritage and maritime influences. Located along the peaceful Bang-Lut Beach, just 90 minutes from Phuket International Airport, the low-rise property offers sweeping sea views and interiors inspired by the textures and traditions of nearby Takuapa.
At its heart is the Greatroom—Marriott’s modern reinterpretation of the traditional hotel lobby. With warm tones, handcrafted details and locally influenced drinks, it creates a welcoming space that encourages relaxation and connection throughout the day.
The resort features 283 stylish rooms, suites and villas, ranging from 50 to 124 square metres. Many offer private balconies or direct pool access, while spacious family suites and romantic pool villas cater to group holidays and couples’ getaways.
Guided by Marriott’s promise of “Wonderful Hospitality, Always,” the resort places strong emphasis on personalised service and meaningful guest experiences.
Guests can enjoy various experiences including beachfront dining, wellness treatments at Quan Spa inspired by traditional Thai healing practices, and curated excursions to the Similan and Surin Islands or nearby national parks. Culinary highlights include five restaurants and bars: Goji Kitchen + Bar, Thai Curry Sala, Panasia, Lido, and the Thai Baking Company.
The resort also caters to guests of all ages with beachfront yoga, a dedicated kids’ club and water playground, and a 24-hour fitness centre, making wellness and relaxation an integral part of every stay.
For those planning business or social gatherings, the resort offers the 531-square-metre Andaman Grand Ballroom, equipped with a 346-inch LED screen. Other features include four adaptable Similan meeting rooms, a lush garden lawn, and a beachfront lawn.
As part of the Marriott Bonvoy programme, the resort allows members to earn and redeem points during their stay and access personalised services through the Marriott Bonvoy app.
