Minister of Plantation and Commodities Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani has been appointed to assume the duties and responsibilities of the Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, effective immediately.
Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar confirmed the appointment while stating that the Cabinet reached the decision during its meeting two days ago.
Johari, a seasoned economic policymaker and former Second Finance Minister, steps in following the resignation of Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad from the portfolio earlier this month. No official reason was provided for Nik Nazmi’s departure.
