As of 11am this morning, a total of 60 areas nationwide recorded moderate Air Pollution Index (API) readings. This information was provided by the Malaysian Air Pollution Index Management System (APIMS), operated by the Department of Environment.
Meanwhile, eight other areas registered good API readings. These included Kota Kinabalu Polytechnic, Kota Kinabalu, and Kimanis in Sabah; Miri ILP, Sri Aman, Kapit, and Limbang in Sarawak; as well as Labuan. No area reported unhealthy API levels during this period.
Under the API scale, a reading of 0–50 indicates good air quality, 51–100 is moderate, 101–200 is unhealthy, 201–300 is very unhealthy, and anything above 300 is classified as hazardous.
The API data is updated hourly, drawing on information from 68 air quality monitoring stations across the country.
