Air Selangor Now Offers Individual Water Meters For High-Rise Residents

Air Selangor has announced that residents in high-rise buildings and gated communities in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, and Putrajaya can now apply to convert their water supply from a bulk meter to individual meters.

This initiative is aimed at providing consumers with a more equitable and transparent billing system. Previously, residents under a bulk meter account were charged a flat rate, often dividing bills evenly regardless of individual consumption.

A key benefit of the migration is that individual unit owners will be charged at a lower domestic tariff rate. Water bills will also be issued directly to each household, similar to the billing process for landed properties. This change addresses a long-standing issue where residents who paid their bills on time could still face service interruptions due to the non-payment of a few others under the bulk system.

In addition to potential cost savings, the migration allows customers to better monitor their water usage. The Air Selangor 2.0 app now features a new “Litres per Capita Per Day (LCD)” feature, which helps residents track their consumption and compare it against the National Water Services Commission’s (SPAN) recommended water usage goal of 160 litres per person per day.
