Johor-Singapore SEZ Emerges As Key Driver of Johor’s Economic Growth, MB Says

The Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) is rapidly becoming a cornerstone of Johor’s economic success, thanks to strong collaboration between the federal and state governments, said Menteri Besar (MB) Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

Citing robust performance indicators, Onn Hafiz said Johor is on a positive economic trajectory, with RM30.1 billion in approved investments recorded in the first quarter of 2025 and a GDP growth rate of 6.4% last year, outpacing the national average.

“This is no small feat. It proves that Johor is not only a key economic driver in southern Malaysia but also among the top contributors to national growth,” he said.

Onn Hafiz highlighted that the JS-SEZ, a strategic cross-border initiative, is expected to deepen regional integration, attract high-value investments and enhance Johor’s role as a regional economic hub.

Meanwhile, he also credited the federal government, particularly Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, for consistent support and alignment in advancing Johor’s development agenda.

The state remains fully committed to federal programmes aimed at community well-being, including Bakul Kasih, Jualan Kasih, Dapur Kasih, as well as initiatives in affordable housing, healthcare support and social assistance.
