13MP: Sabah And Sarawak To Be Sustainable Energy Hubs

The government will position Sabah and Sarawak as the nation’s sustainable energy hubs under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) through initiatives such as the Sarawak Hydrogen Hub and Sabah Energy Supply Assurance, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said.

“These efforts will strengthen energy infrastructure in both states while attracting high-impact investments and driving clean technology development for the benefit of Sabah and Sarawak,” Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, said when tabling the plan in Parliament today.

For Kelantan, Pahang and Terengganu, development will be driven by establishing an integrated and competitive national food production hub, creating new economic opportunities, particularly for rural communities.

The 13MP, themed “Reshaping Development,” covers the 2026–2030 period and seeks to reform Malaysia’s socio-economic agenda in line with the Malaysia MADANI framework. It aims to reshape development through policies and strategies that enhance citizen well-being, environmental sustainability, good governance and regional competitiveness.
