MOF To Announce RON95 Subsidy Targeting Details By End-September

The Ministry of Finance (MOF) will unveil detailed plans for the implementation of the RON95 subsidy at the end of September, following Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s announcement on July 23.

The ministry said the government is currently developing and testing the mechanism to ensure smooth execution once the policy takes effect.

“This effort includes refining data from agencies such as the National Registration Department, Road Transport Department and the Department of Statistics Malaysia.

“The government aims to adopt a more comprehensive approach to ensure RON95 subsidies benefit the targeted groups,” MOF said in a written reply posted on the Dewan Rakyat portal.

The ministry was responding to Mohd Sany Hamzan (PH-Hulu Langat), who asked about the status of the RON95 subsidy retargeting exercise announced earlier by the Ministry of Economy, specifically the front-end and back-end phases.

MOF reiterated that once the new subsidy system is implemented via MyKad, most Malaysians will enjoy RON95 fuel at RM1.99 per litre, while non-citizens and ineligible groups will pay the unsubsidised market price.
