Maxis Bhd, via its wholly-owned unit Maxis Broadband Sdn Bhd, has provided an additional shareholder advance of RM116.67 million to Digital Nasional Bhd to facilitate 5G operations and strengthen the national 5G network provider’s financial position.
The move follows similar contributions from other DNB shareholders — CelcomDigi Bhd and YTL Communications — each injecting an equal amount of RM116.67 million, in line with the agreed 33.3% proportion among the three telcos.
The additional funding carries the same rights as ordinary shares in DNB, with each ringgit of advance equivalent to one vote. This latest injection raises Maxis Broadband’s total investment in DNB to RM350 million, comprising RM233.2 million in previous shareholder advances and the latest RM116.67 million contribution, alongside its 133,333 DNB shares.
Post-injection, DNB’s capital structure comprises RM500.1 million in issued share capital from the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MoF Inc.), shareholder advances from the three telcos totalling RM699.6 million, and RM250.2 million deemed contributed by MoF Inc. from its existing RM450 million loan, which will also carry voting rights.
Maxis said the transaction will not have any material impact on the group’s earnings per share, net assets per share, or gearing.
