234 Projects Worth RM14.4 Billion Completed Ahead Of Schedule

Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Maslan said 234 development projects nationwide, valued at RM14.4 billion or 27 per cent of the total, were progressing ahead of schedule.

“Despite criticism that projects cannot possibly progress ahead of schedule, we have proven otherwise. Projects strictly monitored by the Public Works Department (PWD) have been completed and are progressing faster than planned… we hope to raise the number of projects ahead of schedule to at least 33 per cent,” he told reporters.

Ahmad was speaking after witnessing the handover of an RM11.1 million, four-kilometre concrete bridge at Labuan’s Patau-Patau 1 water village today.

A total of 860 development projects worth RM49.9 billion have been implemented across the country, with 227 projects worth RM10.6 billion reported to be on track.

Ahmad attributed the success of projects completed earlier than scheduled to several factors, including close collaboration among government agencies, skilled manpower, and financially stable contractors.

He added that teamwork, round-the-clock operations, incentives for early completion, the use of modern technology and machinery, and good community relations through corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts also played key roles.

The Deputy Minister said completing projects earlier brings benefits to the public, the government, and contractors, saving both time and costs.

He also noted that Labuan PWD’s projects have surpassed expectations, with several already delivered ahead of schedule.
