JPJ Flags 2.3 Million Inactive Driving Licences, Warns Offenders Face Action

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has identified 2.3 million Competent Driving Licence (CDL) holders as inactive, with their licences either expired or left unrenewed for more than three years.

JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said it is an offence for inactive licence holders to drive, stressing that doing so endangers both drivers and other road users.

“Anyone driving a motor vehicle must hold a valid and active licence in line with the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333),” he said, adding that those whose licences have lapsed for more than three years must retake the Driver’s Education Curriculum Test, Parts 2 and 3 (KPP02 and KPP03) at a driving institute to obtain or reactivate their licences.

Additionally, he urged those CDL holders whose licences had expired within the past three years to renew them immediately through the MyJPJ app, the mySikap portal or any JPJ counter nationwide to avoid having to resit the tests.
