Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad expressed confidence that Budget 2026, to be tabled on Oct 10, will continue to deliver robust support for Malaysia’s healthcare system, focusing on facility upgrades, disease prevention and workforce wellbeing.
He said the government’s strong financial backing for the ministry reflects its recognition of the sector’s critical role in ensuring national wellbeing.
“We received RM45.27 billion from last year’s budget and remain among the top two ministries with the largest allocations.
“The government understands our urgent need to modernise facilities and tackle chronic and non-communicable diseases more effectively,” Dr Dzulkefly said.
The minister noted that Budget 2026 will build on these priorities by strengthening hospital infrastructure, expanding access to quality healthcare and improving service delivery, particularly in underserved areas.
Dr Dzulkefly also revealed that the government is preparing new measures to address staff shortages and improve retention, with revised allowances and support schemes for medical personnel expected to be announced.
“Investing in our healthcare workers is just as vital as upgrading infrastructure because without a motivated and well-supported workforce, quality care cannot be achieved,” he said.
He emphasised that morale among healthcare professionals is essential for sustaining high standards of care and ensuring Malaysia’s health system remains resilient in the face of growing demands.
With Budget 2026, Dr Dzulkefly said the ministry aims to strike a balance between modernising healthcare infrastructure and empowering its workforce, ensuring Malaysians continue to benefit from accessible, efficient and compassionate care.
