WOU Strengthens Penang Talent Pipeline With Industry Partnerships

Wawasan Open University (WOU) has expanded its collaborations with industry and education partners to develop Penang’s workforce for Industry 4.0, focusing on electrical and electronics (E&E), semiconductor, automation and medical technology sectors.

The university signed Memorandums of Understanding with Fourier TVET Centre, MI Equipment Sdn Bhd and 3REN Berhad in a ceremony at its main campus, attended by InvestPenang and representatives from government, industry and education.

Through these partnerships, WOU will provide flexible, industry-aligned learning pathways for employees and students, from shop-floor operators to senior executives, offering accredited qualifications in engineering, business, digital technologies and leadership.

Programmes include a Skills Diploma in Mechatronic Technology with Fourier, corporate education rebates with MI Equipment and pathways to Bachelor of Technology and Executive MBA programmes with 3REN.

WOU aims to equip Penang’s workforce with practical, future-ready skills, supporting the state’s competitiveness and reinforcing Malaysia’s broader digital economy and Industry 4.0 objectives.
