Singapore Shares Rise As Broad Gains Lift STI

Singapore’s market closed higher on Oct 3, with the Straits Times Index (STI) rising 0.4% (16.74 points) to 4,411.95, supported by broad-based gains across the bourse.

Investor sentiment held firm despite ongoing global uncertainties, as 336 advancers outpaced 247 decliners on the Singapore Exchange. Trading volume stood at 1.57 billion securities worth S$1.67 billion.

Among other benchmarks, the iEdge-OCBC Singapore Low Carbon Select 40 Capped Index held steady at 3,606.00, while the iEdge S-REIT Leaders Index closed at 1,134.50. Regional and sectoral indices saw mixed performances, reflecting cautious optimism amid ongoing assessments of economic data and global market conditions.

Markets will now turn their focus to global monetary policy signals, upcoming corporate earnings, and regional economic data for further direction.
