KDEB Services Launches Malaysia’s First AI-Powered 5-in-1 Recycling Machine

KDEB Waste Management’s subsidiary, KDEB Services, has launched Malaysia’s first Artificial Intelligence-powered 5-in-1 Reverse Vending Machine (RVM) in collaboration with HMA Digital Malaysia.

The partnership was formalised through a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signed at KDEBWM’s headquarters in Shah Alam. The initiative reflects the company’s commitment to green efforts and environmental sustainability in Selangor.

According to Managing Director Dato’ Haji Ramli Mohd Tahir, the project aims to encourage consistent recycling practices among the public. “Through innovative technologies such as the RVM, we believe we can help achieve the Selangor Plan (RS-1) target of a 15% recycling rate while driving public participation in sustainable waste management,” he said.

The smart RVM, which began operating in Taman Wawasan, Puchong in August 2025, allows users to recycle five types of materials including plastic, cardboard, paper, aluminium and used cooking oil. Equipped with AI technology, the machine offers instant rewards to users as an incentive for participation.

The pilot installation marks the first phase of a wider rollout across strategic locations in Selangor, aligning with KDEBWM’s vision to position the state as a national leader in smart and eco-friendly waste management.
