New MG Academy To Help Retailers Transition To Live-Commerce Platforms

MR International Group Sdn Bhd (MRG) and Gimmall (M) Sdn Bhd (GIMmedia) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to co-develop Malaysia’s first integrated TikTok Live Training and Consulting Academy (MG Academy) for retailers.

The initiative aims to equip local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with skills to sell, engage and grow through real-time commerce while linking online and offline operations.

Under the partnership, MRG and GIMmedia will jointly manage branding and marketing for MG Academy. GIMmedia will provide professional trainers, consultants and training programmes, while MRG will handle academy, consulting management and event operations. All TikTok training programmes previously conducted by GIMmedia will now be managed under MG Academy.

Marcus Chew, Director of MR Group, and Mike Seah, Director of GIMmedia Sdn Bhd, exchange documents to mark a new partnership to strengthen retailer training and content enablement in Malaysia.

Marcus Chew, Director of MR International Group, said the platform will focus on outcomes that improve sales and visibility for retailers. GIMmedia Director Mike Seah added that the initiative aims to equip thousands of SMEs with tools, strategies and the mindset needed to succeed in live commerce.

The collaboration comes in response to growing demand for structured live-commerce training among Malaysian SMEs, particularly traditional retailers transitioning to online platforms. MG Academy will provide step-by-step, skills-based programmes to support the development of hybrid business models that integrate physical and online operations.

Retailers can register with MG Academy to receive programme calendars and enrolment details for upcoming TikTok Live Training and Consulting cohorts.
