Genting Raises RM900 Million Via MTNs To Fund Genting Malaysia Takeover

Genting Berhad has raised RM900 million through the issuance of Medium-Term Notes (MTNs) under its existing RM10 billion MTN Programme, as part of its funding plan for the ongoing takeover of Genting Malaysia Berhad (GENM).

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the company said the notes were issued by Genting RMTN Berhad, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Genting, and are guaranteed by the parent company.

The latest issuance — designated as Tranche 5 — carries a tenure of one year and was issued at par with an interest rate of one-month KLIBOR plus 1.80% per annum.

Genting stated that the net proceeds from the issuance will be used to part-finance the acquisition of all remaining ordinary shares in Genting Malaysia Berhad (excluding treasury shares) not already held by the company. The takeover offer was first announced on 13 October 2025.

Affin Hwang Investment Bank Berhad and AmInvestment Bank Berhad served as Joint Lead Managers for the issuance.
