Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd (Rapid Bus), the operator of Rapid Penang On-Demand, will roll out a new ride-booking app called Rapid On-Demand on 15 November, replacing the existing Kummute app.
According to Rapid Bus, the app aims to provide a smoother and faster booking experience for passengers across all 11 Rapid Penang On-Demand service zones.
Acting chief executive officer Ku Jamil Zakaria said the move is part of Rapid Bus’ ongoing efforts to standardise its booking systems between Penang and the Klang Valley, while boosting operational efficiency and digital convenience.
“The new app offers a more user-friendly interface, allowing passengers to set pick-up locations easily, track vehicles in real time, and receive live booking updates,” he said in a statement.
Ku Jamil added that Rapid On-Demand is available for free download from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Existing Kummute users are advised to switch to the new app before 15 November to avoid disruptions.
The RM1 promotional fare will remain in place for all users, with payments accepted via debit or credit card, DuitNow QR, e-wallets, the Mutiara unlimited travel pass, and the Rapid Mesra pass (formerly OKU Smile Pass).
