Taylor’s Group Inaugurates Lexel International School With Gamuda

Taylor’s Education Group (TEG) has officially launched Lexel International Schools, opening its first campus within the Gamuda Gardens township in Selangor. The launch represents a key step in TEG’s effort to make globally benchmarked international education more accessible to Malaysian families.

The inaugural campus, which opened on September 8, 2025, features spacious classrooms, science and technology labs, a library, and a multipurpose hall.

It is the result of a 2024 partnership between TEG and Gamuda Land, combining Taylor’s academic expertise with Gamuda’s township development experience. The goal is to bring quality international education closer to home while enhancing community life.

Interest in international schooling in Malaysia has grown rapidly, with enrolment rising 34% between 2019 and 2024 as families seek English-medium, globally relevant options. The government’s ambition to position Malaysia as a regional education hub—targeting 250,000 international students by 2025—has further driven demand.

Affordability, however, remains a concern. Dato’ Loy Teik Ngan, Chairman of TEG, explained that Lexel was designed to keep fees accessible by rethinking traditional cost structures.

Shared township facilities reduce the need for costly standalone infrastructure, while recruiting talented Malaysian teachers and leveraging technology supports personalised learning efficiently without compromising quality.

Karl Engkvist, President of Taylor’s Education Private Limited, described Lexel as a strategic extension of Taylor’s commitment to widening access to high-quality international education.

Drawing on Taylor’s established academic frameworks and the expertise of Taylor’s University School of Education, the school focuses on teaching students “how to think, not what to think,” helping them become confident, curious, and independent learners.

Gamuda Land’s Chief Operating Officer, Wong Siew Lee, highlighted how education anchors long-term community growth. With Lexel in Gamuda Gardens—and a second campus planned for Gamuda Cove—families gain convenient access to reputable schools, easing daily routines and enhancing township appeal.

Principal Ruby Zabihzadeh shared that the campus has quickly transformed from quiet corridors to lively classrooms. Lexel’s pillars—Learn, Excel, Lead—are evident in students’ approach to learning.

Founding teachers have built the school’s systems and culture from scratch, fostering a warm and supportive environment, with parents showing strong trust by enrolling children before the official opening.

Looking ahead, Lexel will expand to Gamuda Cove in 2026 and other parts of Malaysia and the region, building a network of schools that prioritize consistent quality, inclusivity, and affordability. Admissions for the Gamuda Gardens campus are now open at www.lexel.edu.my.
