Sunway Construction Wins RM570 Million Data Centre Contract From US Client

Sunway Construction has secured a major contract worth approximately RM570 million for the development of a data centre in Johor, reinforcing its position in the fast-growing digital infrastructure segment.

The group said its wholly owned subsidiary has accepted a letter of award from a multinational technology corporation headquartered in the United States for the core and shell package works of the data centre project.

The letter of award also serves as a notice to commence works, with the project targeted for completion by the fourth quarter of 2026.

Under the terms of the award, the multinational client has the option, though not the obligation, to further award the mechanical and engineering fit-out works for the project to SCSB, subject to the finalisation and execution of the relevant contracts. This could potentially expand SunCon’s scope of work and contract value for the project.

SunCon noted that the project is subject to normal construction risks, including fluctuations in material prices. However, the group said these risks are manageable given SCSB’s track record and expertise in construction and data centre development projects.
