Maybank Names Shariffuddin As Chairman Of Board Risk Commitee

Malayan Banking Berhad has redesignated Independent Non-Executive Director Shariffuddin Khalid as Chairman of its Board Risk Committee.

Shariffuddin, 60, succeeds to the role after previously serving as a member of the Risk Committee. Following the change, the committee comprises Shariffuddin as chairman, Senior Independent Non-Executive Director Puan Fauziah binti Hisham, and Independent Non-Executive Director Mr Vittorio Furlan.

Shariffuddin was appointed to Maybank’s board on 14 June 2018. In addition to chairing the Risk Committee, he also serves as Chairman of the Audit Committee and is a member of the Board Compliance Committee. Within the Maybank Group, he holds directorships at Maybank (Cambodia) Plc and Maybank Islamic Berhad.

A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK), Shariffuddin brings more than three decades of experience across banking and corporate sectors. His career spans corporate services, business development, corporate communications and human resources.

He was part of the pioneer management team at Pengurusan Danaharta Nasional Berhad during the 1998 Asian financial crisis, serving as General Manager for Communications and Human Resource from 1998 to 2005. In 2008, he joined Bank Negara Malaysia as the pioneer Director of the Malaysia International Islamic Finance Centre, later serving nearly 10 years at the central bank, with his final role as Director of Strategic Communications.
