MAC Cosmetics’ head of brand, Aïda Moudachirou-Rébois, is leaving the company after taking on the role in 2024, according to WWD. Her departure as senior vice president and global general manager comes during a period of ongoing leadership changes at MAC and its parent company, Estée Lauder Cos., under CEO Stéphane de La Faverie.
The move follows a series of senior appointments aimed at resetting the brand. Nicola Formichetti joined as global creative director in 2025, while Lisa Sequino was named president of Estée Lauder’s makeup brand cluster.
Sequino, who returned to the group after leading JLo Beauty and Supergoop, now oversees MAC alongside Bobbi Brown, Too Faced, Smashbox and Glamglow. The latter three have faced sale rumours for years, with Glamglow scaling back to an Amazon-only model in 2025.
The timing is notable. Estée Lauder’s makeup category posted a 1 per cent decline in the three months to September 30, alongside a $15 million operating loss.
MAC has been hit by softer retail performance and weaker face product sales, contributing to a 5% drop in annual makeup revenue. In response, the brand has leaned into its “I Only Wear MAC” campaign and is preparing to enter Sephora in a bid to broaden its reach and regain momentum.
For consumers, the changes point to a brand in transition rather than retreat. A successor to Moudachirou-Rébois has yet to be named. Still, with fresh creative leadership and expanded retail distribution ahead, MAC appears focused on steadying its position in an increasingly competitive prestige beauty market.
