AEON Co. (M) Bhd has announced the redesignation of Mr Tsugutoshi Seko as its Managing Director, effective March 1, 2026, as part of the company’s leadership transition.
The current MD Mr Naoya Okada will be assuming a board role as non independent director.
Seko, 56, who currently serves as Deputy Managing Director, will assume the top executive role within the Malaysian operations of the Japanese retail group. He brings over three decades of experience within the AEON group, spanning leadership, human resources and regional management roles.
He was appointed Deputy Managing Director of AEON Co. (M) Bhd in July 2022, where he played a key role in overseeing operational strategy and corporate functions. Prior to his Malaysian role, Seko served as Managing Director of AEON Cambodia from March 2021 to July 2022, following his tenure as General Manager of AEON Cambodia beginning in April 2018.
Earlier in his career, Seko held several senior positions at AEON Co., Ltd. in Japan, including General Manager of the Group Human Resource Department and Human Resource Planning Department. He also served as Human Resource Manager for the Kanto Division, where he was involved in workforce planning and organizational development.
Seko began his career with Jusco Co., Ltd. in April 1993, marking the start of a long-standing career within the AEON group. He holds a degree in Literature from Kansai University, Japan.
The redesignation reflects AEON Co. (M)’s continued focus on leadership continuity and strengthening its management capabilities as the retailer navigates evolving consumer trends and expands its footprint in Malaysia’s competitive retail sector.
