CelcomDigi Berhad has officially appointed Albern Murty as its Chief Executive Officer, effective today, to lead the country’s largest mobile network operator.
Murty, 53, has been serving as the company’s Deputy CEO since the landmark merger of Celcom and Digi in November 2022. He took on the additional mantle of Acting CEO in September 2025, following the departure of CEO Datuk Idham Nawawi.
With over 22 years of leadership experience in the telecommunications sector, Murty is widely regarded as a stabilizing force within the industry. His deep-rooted history with the company includes a seven-year tenure as the CEO of Digi.Com Berhad (2015–2022), where he was instrumental in driving the “Internet for All” movement and securing Digi’s position as a market leader in mobile data.
Murty holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Advertising Management from Portland State University, Oregon, USA. His commercial acumen was further sharpened during his early career in business and management roles at Lucent Technologies across Asia.
According to the official filing with Bursa Malaysia, Murty holds 4,600 ordinary shares in CelcomDigi Berhad.
