Several districts in Sabah and Sarawak are facing a fresh round of stormy weather, with thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds expected to persist until 7pm on Feb 10 according to Malaysian Meteorological Department.
Limbang in Sarawak is among the areas flagged under the warning.
In Sabah, the risk zones include the Interior and West Coast corridors — Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran and Kota Belud — as well as Tawau and parts of Sandakan division covering Telupid, Beluran and Sandakan, plus Kudat.
The alert is activated when weather indicators point to thunderstorm systems capable of producing rainfall exceeding 20mm per hour and lasting beyond one hour.
The department said that thunderstorm warnings are short-span notices, valid for up to six hours per release.
