Air Selangor and LUAS have informed that there will be no water disruption in Selangor after an odour pollution incident was detected at Sungai Kabul, Semenyih on February 19.
The crisis was averted after both agencies jointly initiated operations at downstream water treatment plants to make sure they remained stable.
Air Selangor deployed teams to remove contaminated water directly from the source and acted to prevent the further spread of pollutants.
Notably, the Raw Water Guarantee Scheme (SJAM) allowed for water supply diversion and the use of alternative raw water sources when pollution is detected, preventing the need to shut down treatment plants entirely.
This latest incident marks the first time in 2026 that the Southern Package (Semenyih) of the SJAM has been activated.
